Join Reverend Wheeler Parker, Dr. Marvel Parker, and members of the Till Institute staff on Monday, August 19th from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM for a special commemoration of the passing of Emmett Till at Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ in Chicago.
Reverend Parker will give remarks before guests are taken on a guided tour of Roberts Temple to explore the importance of its renovation and preservation.
Roberts Temple served as central piece in Emmett’s story, allowing the world to see the terrible inhumanity brought upon him. This viewing shed light on Emmett’s murder and served as a catalyst for the Civil Rights movement. It is our goal to restore Roberts Temple to its 1955 state so we may preserve this site as it was for this pivotal moment in history.
